Id Software rolled out Quake Champions in closed beta form back in April 2017, and announced in August this year that it would be going free-to-play. Quake Champions will also receive a new update at some point next month, which revives the popular Capture the Flag game type and brings along a new Citadel map with it. Besides the usual batch of balance changes and optimizations tweaks, the most recent update has also added a new Capture the Flag game mode alongside its own map, as well as greatly reworked the. This will reward you with a new currency known as Shards, which can be spent on various cosmetic items that are specific to each champion.
